This thread includes current spreadsheets and past summary data for Handicap Hotlaps results.
The current Handicaps Hotlaps courses are SYC NEW OLYMPIC COURSE and FYC HOTLAPS, but you can post scores for FIYC HOTLAPS COURSE as well. Please use "predef hotlaps wind" and post your lap times in the PHRF HANDICAP HOTLAPS thread.
!!! DATA ENTRY IS NOW OPEN FOR LAPS ON THE SYC NEW OLYMPIC COURSE AND THE FIYC HOTLAPS COURSE !!!
ALL USABLE LAPS POSTED IN THE PHRF HANDICAP HOTLAPS THREAD WILL BE ADDED TO THE ACTIVE SPREADSHEET HERE TO UPDATE THE HANDICAP CONVERSIONS FOR PHRF RACES _________________ JFos

I thought it might help to re-post the past spreadsheets, showing the lap data for different boats on the B1A and F4 courses. These courses no longer exist due to the added sims, terraforming of Bella Lavella Island, and NYC's decision to move the raceline to Manning Strait. _________________ JFos

Hello,
soory for this newbies question, but could somebody explain the difference between HANDICAP HOTLAPS RESULTS thread, PHRF HANDICAP HOTLAPS thread, Hotlaps SYC June 2008 (Olympic Long) thread, NYC HOTLAPS JULY 2008...
Where to post results?
Does PHRF thread inculde both NYC and SYC hotlaps?
Thank you |

"Hotlaps" came into existence 18 months ago. It's a fun, easy way for skippers to record and compare their individual lap times. It's also a great way to sharpen your sailing skills.
Many of the yacht clubs designate one course as their 'Hotlaps Course," and skippers post their best lap times in a discussion thread here each month (such as "NYC HOTLAPS JULY 2008").
Since skippers sail and race different kinds of boats, for the past few months we've been using a hotlaps course to generate a PHRF-style Handicap system.
The current PHRF Handicap course is "NYC Hotlaps 2008." Skippers are invited to sail that course and then post their 'good lap times' (not just their best lap times) in that thread. The lap times are then included in the spreadsheet at the top of this thread to generate handicap data. The handicap table allows us to adjust the scores of individual boats when a mixed fleet races. _________________ JFos

Posted in wrong place: moved to results thread.
As an aside, the button says "Edit/Delete", but there is no option to delete once you get here.

| Another addition to Jane's post on 'hotlaps' the prefixes of 'SYC, NYC' simply point to the yacht club names. Each one has it's own thread and it's own hotlaps course. |

Jangar on NYC Olympic M1 with hotlaps predef wind settings :
((sorry, looks like a new column in your spreadsheet Jane!)
13:06
Will get faster, I expect maybe a minute...will do some more tonight and tomorrow....theres a couple of nuances and..oddities in regards to compass headings (35 degrees from the line will take you wayyyyyy left of the island near the pink mark before tacking to the yellow!!)
second run, whcih I thought was actually MUCH better but I got an expired region handoff and had to chase the boat with TPs....
13:54
this boat sails sideways a LOT....lol |

NYC Olympic M1 is closed for data collection.
Here's a copy of the spreadsheet data.
The Handicap Conversion factors from M1 are listed on the current Summary Table, which is updated frequently in the first post of this thread. _________________ JFos

Hear the results so far based on 192 laps by 25 skippers sailing 19 different boats. The handicapped factors are shown in blue, and the The summary table lits the 2008 handicaps as well, for comparison.
There is still considerable variability in these early numbers, but the trend seems moving in the right direction. _________________ JFos
